Anecdotal Information
The lot was purchased by Rivermont Methodist Church in 1893 and the church was completed in 1897, based on a design of architect Edward G. Frye. With the merger of Centenary and Rivermont Methodist Churches in the 1920s, the church was sold to a Lutheran congregation, and the building was renamed the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church that remained there until the 1950s when new church was built on Langhorne Road. According to the Lynchburg City Directory, form 1956-2001 this was the home of the Scottish Rites Temple and Ancient & Accepted Scottish Rite of Free Masonry. It became the Immanuel Christian Church in 2012.
