Early 20th-century commercial. Small, 1-story, gable-roofed comma, concrete corner gas station, with a porte-cochere and raised basement. Roof features Spanish-style terra cotta tiles and brick cornice and globe lights above corner columns.

Anecdotal Information
This building has housed a variety of businesses over the years, though in its first decades it served as a gas station (or, to use the terminology of when it was built, filling station). According to the Lynchburg City Directory, the following gas stations were located at 1201 Rivermont: from 1929-1930 Watt's Super Service Station, from 1931-1944 Avenue Service Station, from 1945-1947 Henry Scruggs Filling Station, from 1948-1949 Benjamin Roethlein filling station, and from 1950-1967 the Avenue Service Gas Station. Vacant for several years, in 1974 this was Julian P. Adams Jr. Floor Sanding Co., in 1979 Central Virginia Foam Insulation Inc., from 1981-1984 Central Virginia Car Care & Reconditioning Car Wash, from 1985-1988 Mosby Recondition & Car Center, in 1989 C & C Car Care, from 1990-1994 Kelly's Car Care, in 1995 Garrison's Car Care, in 1996 Billy Bob's, in 1997 Mark Garrison's, and since 1998 Touch of Class Car Wash.
