Welcome to the Rivermont Avenue Heritage Trust, the official website of the Friends of Rivermont Historical Society.

The Rivermont Avenue subdivision was planned as a residential suburb of Lynchburg in the early 1890s. The name “Rivermont” can be traced to the 1850s’ property of William Daniel, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth Hannah Cabell. This original property stretched from near Point of Honor to the current Rivermont Avenue.

Craftsman/Foursquare. 2-story, 2-bay hip-roofed stuccoed frame with a hip-roofed dormer on the front. 1-story has Tuscan columns and vinyl baluster. 1-bay-long, 2-story wing is on the rear. Also, there is a 1-story frame plywood-sided garage.

Anecdotal Information
According to the Lynchburg City Directory, from 1942-1948 paper hanger Isaac Amowitz lived here. From 1955-1957 this was the William Whitten Convalescent Nursing Home and from 1959-1961 Coffey's Nursing Home.
