WELCOME TO RIVERMONT AVENUE

Welcome to the Rivermont Avenue Heritage Trust, the official website of the Friends of Rivermont Historical Society.

The Rivermont Avenue subdivision was planned as a residential suburb of Lynchburg in the early 1890s. The name “Rivermont” can be traced to the 1850s’ property of William Daniel, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth Hannah Cabell. This original property stretched from near Point of Honor to the current Rivermont Avenue.

According to the Lynchburg City Directory, from 1933-1934 nurses Emily Revely and Arlene Ridgeway lived here. Interview with Dave Nardi on June 25, 2011: David Nardi moved to Rivermont Avenue in January of 2007. He has since been working to update the home and has found a servant call button on the dining room floor and a pantry door that used to lead to the outside that was filled in. He has added a half bath to the main level of the house. He enjoys the front porch and when he first moved in he found himself being woken up by singing at Randolph College.
