Welcome to the Rivermont Avenue Heritage Trust, the official website of the Friends of Rivermont Historical Society.

The Rivermont Avenue subdivision was planned as a residential suburb of Lynchburg in the early 1890s. The name “Rivermont” can be traced to the 1850s’ property of William Daniel, Jr. and his wife Elizabeth Hannah Cabell. This original property stretched from near Point of Honor to the current Rivermont Avenue.

Colonial Revival. 2 1/2-story, 3-bay, hip-roofed frame with central, hip-roofed dormer and modillion and dentil cornice. 1-story porch has Ionic columns and turned balusters. Main entrance has transom and diamond-paned sidelights. Awnings added to dormers and second story windows. 3-bay hip-roofed garage addition.

Anecdotal Information
According to the Lynchburg City Directory, in 1934 nurses Lillie Hardy and Louise K. Gibbs lived here and in 1954 title contractor Percy Cochran lived here. From 2003-2006 Alternative Images was located here.
